Doggone Vet Bills!
November 3, 2008
Did you know (if you’re a dog owner, then you do know…), that vet costs can become extremely high. $1,200.00 USD is not unheard of if your beloved dog (I know I love my dogs!) needs surgery. And even if you take every precaution with your dogs, there may still come a time when you find a vet visit necessary.
I know that my kids get sick sometimes, and health insurance is expensive, but something we all need to have. So what about our dogs? Our pets? Are they not members of our families? Mine are, and so I’ve been thinking about getting pet insurance for them. It’s not too expensive, and especially the hard work that a Schutzhund dog can live and put on their bodies makes it a decision that I’ve firmly set in my mind to make.

Here’s a quote from a pet insurance resource:
Pet insurance works in a manner not unlike the other forms of health insurance you may have. Once a premium is paid to the provider, your pet is covered should it become ill or have need of treatment. After you have sought out treatment for your pet and incurred expenses, a claim is filed with your insurance agency. They send you a cheque to cover your costs, and just like that, your wallet is replenished!
So I’ll be getting insurance soon for my German Shepherds.
